Cherry

Main characteristics

  • Reference colour: Orange-brown or red, darkening slightly under light
  • Sapwood: Very distinct
  • Grain: Fine to medium
  • Wood grain: Straight, frequent spiral fibre

Cherry (wild cherry) is quite similar to maple in terms of its fine grain and slightly wavy grain. Very often used for the manufacture of furniture, its tones range from red-mahogany to light brown, for an authentic and very warm result. Although very resistant, this species is still very easy to work.
