" We wanted to separate our living room in order to make better use of the available space (approximately 70m²), and create a new play room for our children. It was also necessary to conserve light, hence the idea of an openwork partition.
It is 2.5m high by 3.4m wide, and 12cm thick. It is made up of Spruce wood planks (2.4cm thick for all, except the bottom plank which is 4.2cm), which I cut to the desired dimensions.
They have all been sanded to grain 120, then varnished (4 coats), colorless mat color.
They are assembled at the top and bottom by screws 7cm long, and the small horizontal shelves by dowels.
The partition is made of 2 blocks, because otherwise it would have been too heavy and cumbersome to transport. These 2 blocks were installed one after the other directly on site once assembled. No drilling in the floor or the ceiling was necessary (we have underfloor heating, and it is a plasterboard false ceiling): the partition holds by pressure, thanks to a cylinder system imagined by me. At the top of the partition, 16 bolts pressurize a board located on the ceiling via inserts. Thus the partition is plated and does not move at all ! "
