Why choose a plywood panel for your projects?
Plywood is made by layering and gluing thin sheets of wood (plies) under pressure with crossed grain directions. This technique gives it superior dimensional stability and strength compared to solid wood of equivalent thickness. It has many advantages:
- Strength and durability: its cross-layered structure makes it highly resistant to warping and impact;
- Lightweight: plywood is relatively light, making it easier to handle and install;
- Versatility: it is suitable for both structural and decorative uses, and can be painted, varnished or stained;
- Cost: it is often an economical alternative to solid wood with excellent performance.
This combination of qualities makes plywood ideal for interior design or more technical applications.

GOOD TO KNOW
Ilicut offers a selection of plywood panels in different wood species and thicknesses (0.5 cm, 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 2.1 cm, 2.2 cm), allowing you to adapt to the flexibility required by your project.
What are the uses of plywood panels?
Lightweight, stable and versatile, plywood adapts to a wide range of projects:
- Shelves and boards for garages, workshops or offices;
- Furniture interiors for drawers and cupboards;
- Stair treads and risers;
- Desk tops or countertops;
- Light screens or space dividers;
- Storage furniture or mobile furniture (van, food truck or trailer interiors).
Which plywood panel should you choose for your project?
At Ilicut, we offer different wood species depending on the application.
Poplar plywood: for dry environments (class 1)
Ideal for non-humid rooms, its light color and lightness make it perfect for making storage furniture (cupboards, drawers, interior shelves) as well as for decorative elements.
Okoume and anti-slip birch plywood: for humid or sheltered outdoor use (class 2)
For projects requiring greater moisture resistance, such as kitchen or bathroom furniture or sheltered outdoor applications, choose our 100% okoume plywood or anti-slip birch panel. Okoume is also appreciated for its durability and versatility.
Marine okoume plywood: for outdoor use (class 3)
Designed to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture, our marine okoume plywood is commonly used in the boating industry. It is the material of choice for spaces exposed to direct contact with water, provided an appropriate finish is applied.
For humid or outdoor environments, choose plywood suited to the exposure class (class 2 or 3). A protective finish is strongly recommended to ensure panel durability.
