DIY Valchromat and solid wood TV stand

Discover how to build a modern, colorful custom TV unit by combining Valchromat and solid wood.



Materials


To make this TV unit, you will need:

Solid oak panels

Solid oak panels

  • For the top: 100 x 40 x 2.6 cm
  • For the shelf: 94 x 30 x 2.6 cm
Black Valchromat panel

  • For the sides (x2): 42.4 x 40 x 3 cm
  • For the back: 96 x 31 x 0.8 cm

Manufacturing steps

Unpacking the wood delivery from ilicut

Step 1

Order your custom panels on ilicut.com

Marking reference lines on a wood panel

Step 2

Mark the groove for inserting the back panel on the sides and on the underside of the top

Cutting with a router

Step 3

Set the router and choose the appropriate bit

Grooving with a router

Step 4

Cut the groove along the upper part of the middle shelf

Do the same on both sides

Marking and drilling

After marking the shelf position on the sides, drill the sides for assembly

Placing dowel markers

Mark the drilling positions on the shelf by placing dowel markers on the sides

Drill at the marked points

Applying glue into the holes

Apply glue

Inserting dowels with a mallet

Insert the dowels

Assemble the top with the sides

Slide the back panel into the grooves

After drilling the upper part of the sides, mark the drilling positions on the top by placing centering markers

Drill the underside of the top

Apply glue

Place the dowels

Assemble the sides and shelf with the top

Sanding the unit

Lightly sand

Dusting off the unit with a cloth

Remove dust

Applying varnish with a brush

Varnish and let dry
