How to choose your wooden worktop?
It's decided, the worktop of your new kitchen will be made of solid wood. Here are some points to be considered while choosing the best wooden worktop for you.
The choice of wood species
In order for a wood to be used as a worktop, it must be sufficiently dense and hard. This is why you will only find "hardwood" species (as opposed to "softwood" such as fir) in our selection of solid wood worktops: oak, beech, birch, acacia, walnut, etc.
Note that bamboo, a plant with the same physical properties as hardwood, can also be used as a worktop when it is in the form of a plywood panel.
Once this distinction is made, the choice of this or that species of hardwood for your worktop must be made on purely aesthetic criteria. Nevertheless, here are some tips depending on the type of decoration you want for your kitchen:
• Timeless: Oak, with its warm shade and marked veining, will enhance your kitchen irrespective your style.
• Designer / Scandinavian: Worktops made of light wood like beech, birch or maple
• Industrialist: Worktops made of dark wood like acacia and walnut
• Exotic: Bamboo, acacia or cherry wood worktops
The worktop type
There are mainly two methods for making a solid wood worktop: edge-glued lamella tops and finger-jointed lamella tops. Although tops with finger-jointed lamellas are a priori slightly more resistant, we recommend that you make your choice primarily on aesthetics, as both types of manufacture are robust.
When choosing the thickness of your wooden worktop, choose panels that are at least 2.6 cm thick to ensure their robustness over time.

Care of a wooden worktop in kitchen
In order to guarantee the longevity of your solid wood kitchen worktop, it is necessary to apply a finish adapted to wet rooms. Be sure to impregnate all the edges of your custom-made worktop (faces, sides, inside of any cut-outs, etc.) and to respect the drying times indicated before installing it in your kitchen. Make sure that the elements that will be in contact with your worktop are clean and dry during installation.
To avoid stains on your wooden worktop, avoid letting liquids stand and do not place hot containers directly on the wood. In case of stains, use a neutral detergent such as natural soap (no abrasive sponges).
