Maintenance of a solid oak worktop
It's decided, the worktop of your new kitchen will be in solid oak! To make the most of this excellent choice, here are some maintenance tips for your solid wood worktop.
When receiving your oak worktop, it should be stored flat on cleats or equivalent, in a dry, clean room for several days. This advice is valid for oak worktops ordered raw or with an oiled finish.
2. The finish
If you have chosen to apply the finish yourself (oil, varnish, etc.), we recommend that you carry out a light sanding beforehand. Then, be sure to apply the product to all the edges of your solid oak worktop, even inside the internal cutouts provided to accommodate the hobs and the sink, for example.
After respecting the drying time of the finish, you can move on to laying your worktop. Make sure that it is not in direct contact with wet materials (plaster tiles, masonry elements, etc.).
Routine maintenance of a solid wood worktop depends on the type of finish used. In any case, we recommend that you avoid leaving stagnant water on your oak worktop and use a neutral detergent to wipe off any stains.
