Creating a space inspired by Japanese culture is, above all, about finding the right balance between aesthetics and functionality. For this project, Matthieu, founder of the Japanese tea room Mon Mochi in Saint-Nazaire, wanted to offer his customers a space that was both warm and immersive, ideal for a delicious gourmet break. True to the Japanese spirit, solid wood plays a central role in the design of the space.
The Japanese spirit at the heart of the place
In this tea room, Japanese aesthetics are expressed through clean lines, natural materials and a controlled sense of space. To stay true to this vision, Matthieu chose beech wood, a light, soft and understated species perfectly in tune with the codes of Japanese design. This wood adds a warm touch while retaining great visual lightness. The result creates a calming and coherent environment where every detail has been carefully considered to offer a unique experience.
Ilicut and customisation serving professional projects
To bring this idea to life, Matthieu turned to Ilicut: counter, battens, tables and custom-made shelves were cut with precision in our Charolais workshop. This project beautifully illustrates Ilicut’s ability to support all professionals in fitting out their businesses.
